Cavite is a province in the Philippines located on the Southern Part of Metro Manila, just along the coasts of Manila Bay. It is one of the most historical places in the Philippines, being the homeland of the country's first President Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo. The name "Cavite" came from a Hispanicized form of kawit or kalawit, the tagalog word for "hook". Others say that it is also derived from kabit, the tagalog word for "joined" since it is linked to the Greater Manila Area which was then the center of trading in the Philippines.
